How to Kill Termites
If you tap on a part of your wall and hear the typical sound of hollow wood, you might have a termite infestation. Or you may see shelter tubes on the ground or around trees; these are also signs of a termite infestation. How will you kill those termites? The oldest method in killing termites is the use of liquid termiticides. These are pesticides specifically designed to kill termites. Spray hundreds of gallons of these liquid termiticides on the ground outside your house. This creates a chemical barrier to stop termites from getting inside your house and building a colony. You can also spray these termiticides on wood inside your house to kill them. More types of chemicals have been considered unsafe to use. So make sure that you only buy the recommended brands.
A new method in killing termites is by the use of plastic stakes. Bury these stakes on the ground around your house. At first, only wood is placed inside the stakes. This will monitor for presence of termites. The pest control company will regularly check the stakes for presence of termites. Once termite infestation is established, the wood will be replaced by termiticides or insect growth regulators. Any termite that comes into contact with the chemicals inside the stake will take the chemicals back into the colony. In turn, all the termites in the colony will be “infected” with the chemicals. If termiticides were used, these will kill the entire colony. If insect growth regulators were used, these will cause abnormal development among termites which will kill them in time. The bait method is safer than the liquid method. The chemicals used are just inside the stake. Aside from being more expensive then the liquid treatment, the bait treatment usually takes longer to take effect because it may take long for termites to get into the stakes.
Killing termites is easy. If you already know that you have a termite infestation, kill the termites at once. Don’t give them more time to damage your home.
