Termite treatment cost

Termite treatment cost is based on method of treatment, severity of infestation, structural factors, size of the house, and lot area. Some people find the cost too expensive that they resort to doing the treatment themselves. There is no harm in doing this but make sure that you have sufficient knowledge to effectively kill the termites. Others rely on professional exterminators to get the job done.Today, there are two methods to choose from. The older and less expensive method is the liquid termiticide treatment. Some termiticides are no longer recommended for use nowadays. These are not safe to the environment and there have been instances that the chemicals leaked into the water supply. Therefore, in buying a liquid termiticide, make sure that you purchase the recommended brand. Another important thing to remember if you are applying the termiticide is to read the product label and follow the instructions properly. These are pesticides which can cause harm if not handled properly. Hundreds of gallons of these liquid termiticides must be sprayed outside your house to create a chemical barrier. This will stop the termites from getting into the house. You can also spray this inside your house to kill the termites that have already built a colony there.

The newer and more expensive method is the bait treatment. This method makes use of plastic stakes as baits. In the beginning, only wood is placed inside the stakes. To establish a termite infestation, the stakes must be checked regularly. If a termite gets inside the stakes, replace the wood with termiticides. Any termite that comes in contact with the stakes laden with termiticides will definitely return to its colony. Once in the colony, the exposed termite can now transfer the termiticide to all the termites it gets in contact with, thereby killing the entire colony.

You can choose the cheaper termite treatment or the one which is more expensive. Regardless of the treatment cost, both methods have been proven effective in getting rid of termites.
